4. FOUNDED Date the park was founded & why:  Mount Rainier national park became a national park on March 2, 1899 it was the forth national park designated by Congress.  Mount Rainier became a park after : Yellowstone National Park (1872), Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park (1890), and Yosemite National Park (1890).  Mount Rainier had been supported by many petitions, newspapers, and other thing to request that it be made into a national park because of it great beauty and mountain.

5. ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES  The park is having some air pollution issues. Some nitrogen deposition is effecting the lichen community. The impact is that now the amount lichen is going away because of the polluted air effects. A study done by PREVENT (Pacific Northwest Regional Visibility Experiment Using Natural Tracers) found that sulfur contributes to reduced visibility which is the weather and smoke.

6. SPECIAL LANDFORMS  Mount Rainier's most famous land form is most likely Mount Rainier its self because it is what the park was named after. There are many glaciers landforms on it as well. It was formed more than half a million years ago, due to a base built by the lava of other volcanoes. Mount Rainier is a volcano (last erupted in about 1890s ) but some past eruptions have caused layer after layer of lava and some rubble.

7. HOW IS TECHNOLOGY USED TO MAINTAIN THE PARK?  Technology is used because when there may be volcanic activity sensors in the park can warn the of the activity so people can make sure the park and the people in it will stay safe. Some similar censors also can detect when earthquakes will occur. But these sensors are not always accurate because you can never tell when a volcano or earthquake is coming.

8. TYPES OF ROCKS IN THE PARK  Most of the rocks found in the park are volcanic debris. Especially considering that Mount Rainier is a volcano so the main types of rocks found around the park are igneous rocks. Some more specific rocks found are sandstone, basalt, and mudstone.

9. HOW WAS THE PARK FORMED?  It wasn’t formed over night but from years of volcanic activity. It formed as a result of subduction plates heating and forming magma. The magma later rose to the surface and created Mount Rainier.

10. HOW IS THE LAND CURRENTLY CHANGING? Some changes are that the size of glaciers are decreasing because of warmer climate and global warming. During the Ice Age the World was practically covered in glaciers. Even in the 50s the glaciers where in tact because of cooler climate. But in about the 80s scientists started to notice the glaciers started to thin and decrease their size.
