Indicator Element Standard

The purpose of a Rubric of Effective Teaching: Develop a consistent, shared understanding of what proficient performance looks like in practice. Develop a common terminology and structure to organize evidence. Make informed professional judgments about formative and summative performance ratings on each standard and overall. The rubric is NOT a classroom observation tool

Understanding Self-Assessment Self-Assessment Analysis, goal- setting & plan development Implementation of the plan Formative Assessment/Evaluation Summative Evaluation What are my strengths and areas for development?

Self-Assessment in EDFS Educator submits a summary of strengths and areas of need Educator will not submit a full rubric used for self- assessment; this aspect of self-assessment is private

Self-Assessment: Analysis of Student Learning

Self-Assessment: Analysis of Practice

Understanding Goal Setting Self-Assessment Analysis, goal- setting & plan development Implementation of the plan Formative Assessment/Evaluation Summative Evaluation Where do I need to grow this year? Where do I want my students to grow this year?

Each educator is responsible for at least: o One goal for student learning, growth and achievement Using baseline student data o One goal for professional practice Written to support the achievement of the student learning goal Linked to en element of the rubric  Consider team, grade, or department goals  Educator proposes; supervisor determines Proposing and Setting Goals

School Vision & Priorities: o Student learning goals based on student data o School-wide practices that support the achievement of student learning goals o Informed by 4 District priority areas Team goals Self Assessment: Goals should be aligned with: Educator Goal Setting Self-assessment & goal proposal due October 1 st

S pecific M easurable A ttainable R esults-Focused T ime-bound Attributes of a Strong Goal Make sure the goal is written clearly enough so that both you and your evaluator can determine your degree of success in meeting the goal!

Goal Proposal in EDFS Propose one student learning and one professional practice goal Evaluator will accept or return goals for revision Templates are included in the EDFS to support goal-writing

33 EDFS: Student Learning Goal Proposal 33

Goals and Ratings Progress on Ratings on Overall (2) Goals (4) Standards Rating Curriculum, Planning and Assessment Teaching All Students Family & Community Engagement Professional Culture Exemplary Proficient Needs Improvement Unsatisfactory Student Learning Professional Practice

A Culture of Continuous Learning Self-Assessment Analysis, goal-setting & plan development Implementation of the plan Formative Assessment/Evaluation Summative Evaluation What will I do to achieve this growth for myself and my students?

36 EDFS: Action Steps and Plan Development 36 Each goal must have action steps to support educators’ completion of the goal The action steps develop the plan into actionable steps including Actions; Supports or resources required; Timeline and frequency. These steps will also be entered into the EDFS

Collection of Evidence in the EDFS Both educators and evaluators are permitted to upload evidence to the EDFS Evidence should be robust, allowing evaluators to assess across multiple rubric areas

Observations in the EDFS BPS is currently developing an observation tool mobile app Observational evidence will be uploaded to EDFS, and tagged to an appropriate category of the rubric Observations may only be used in formative or summative evaluations if the educator received feedback within 5 days of the observation

A Culture of Continuous Learning Self-Assessment Analysis, goal-setting & plan development Implementation of the plan Formative Assessment/Evaluation Summative Evaluation How am I doing in relation to my goals? How did I do this cycle? What should I work on next?

Become familiar with the rubric and think about how it relates to your practice. Begin to think about goals that would be appropriate. When you are assigned your students, analyze their data and think about student learning goals. As a staff, think about how you might build in team goals and collaborative structures to focus on priority areas. Participate and stay engaged with us. Talk with colleagues, talk to your principals, ask questions. Preparing for the school year
