3
Adult Mortality In the 6 years before the survey: 2.5 women died for every 1,000 women in the population 4.1 men died for every 1,000 men in the population
4
Maternal Mortality Maternal mortality includes all deaths that occur to women during pregnancy, during birth, and up to 6 weeks after birth or the end of the pregnancy.
5
Maternal Mortality Maternal mortality ratio (MMR) for the 6-year period before the survey = 206 (deaths per 100,000 births)
6
MMR: Confidence Intervals 2010 CDHS Note: Maternal mortality includes all deaths that occur to women during pregnancy, during birth, and up to 2 months (2005 CDHS) or 6 weeks (2010 CDHS) after birth or the end of the pregnancy

Maternal factors associated with high risk of childhood mortality Too short birth interval: less than 24 months after a previous birth Mother is “too young” (under 18) or “too old” (over 40) High birth order: mother has four or more children Children are at an elevated risk of dying if:

Under-five Mortality by Previous Birth Interval Deaths per 1,000 live births for the 10-year period before the survey
17
Under-five Mortality by Mother’s Age at Birth Deaths per 1,000 live births for the 10-year period before the survey

Key Findings Maternal mortality ratio is 206 deaths per 100,000 live births. This is a decline since 2005. Childhood mortality has decreased over the past 15 years. Current infant mortality rate is 45 deaths per 1,000 live births and under-five mortality rate is 54 deaths per 1,000 live births. Infant mortality ranges by province, from 15 in Phnom Penh to 95 in Preah Vihear/Steung Treng. A major risk factor for childhood mortality is a birth interval of less than two years.
