5 The Nervous System works with all the other body systems. The nerve cells carry information which communicates to the muscles when to expand or contract, when to breathe, or the rate the heart should beat.

6 #1. Nerves have an incredible size range, from microscopic to three feet long. #2. Nerves can transmit information at 260mph. #3. Nerves are specially adapted for their certain functions (seeing, hearing, etc.). #4. The human brain weighs three pounds and contains about 100 billion nerve cells. #5. The Nervous System is the most complex body system.

7 Nerves can transmit information at up to ___ mph. What is the difference between central and peripheral nervous system? How does the Nervous System interact with other body systems?
