3 Traits This animal is a warm-blooded vertebrate. Adult chipmunks are 8-10 inches long (including 3-4 inch tail) and weighs 2 ½-4 ounces. The color of it is brown with 1 or 2 black and white stripes down its back.

4 Adaptations They feed on nuts, ( acorns,hickory nuts, beach nuts) and seeds of woody and herbaceous plants including cherry, box elder, maples, shadbush, dogwood, and more. They use their front paws to pick their food up. Fur keeps the chipmunk warm and protects it from the weather.

5 Interesting Fact A chipmunk’s head is blunt rounded,erect ears. Each hind foot has five clawed toes, and each forefoot has four clawed toes and a fifth, thumb-like digit with a soft,rounded nail. The tail is well-furred and flattened.

6 Protection When it eats bird food it looks like a red squirrel because it is small and is brown or red.

7 Closing The chipmunk is a beautiful animal and is so small. It can crawl into a small area.
