Journey To A Far Country The Story of the Prodigal Son Luke 15:11-32

The Far Country There is excitement about experiencing new things; get the “best of both worlds” There is freedom to express your independence; no rules or responsibilities; sow your “wild oats” Many today take their journey into the far country of sin and take a “vacation” from God

The Journey To A Far Country Will take you farther than you want to go: the prodigal was in want and hungry after his riotous living (15:11-16) Sexual sins, addictions, wasting money, no job, anger, etc, often leads to further problems The way of the transgressor is hard (Prov. 13:15; 15:10; 21:8) Ask Cain (Gen. 4:6-8; 1 Jn. 3:15) or David (2 Sam. 11)

The Journey To A Far Country Will teach you more than you want to know: the prodigal had to “come to himself” after he messed up his thinking (15:17-19) Shame, guilt, separation, fear, punishment, wrong values, unbelief in God, etc., often accompany the prodigal life Ask Adam and Eve (Gen. 3:5ff,23-24) or Judas (Mt. 27:4-5)

The Journey To A Far Country Will offer you more than you want to be paid: the prodigal ended up lost and in (spiritual) “death” after his riotous living (15:24,32) The wages of sin is addiction (Rom. 6:19-21), bondage (Jn. 8:34; 2 Pet. 2:19-20) and death (Rom. 6:23; Rev. 2:11; 20:6,14; 21:8) Ask the foolish young man (Prov. 2:18-19; 5:3-6,11; 7:22-23) or Simon (Acts 8:23)

God Is Calling the Prodigal Come Without Delay!
