4 Reconstruction  (NOT on your paper)  Reconstruct = to construct again; rebuild; make over.  Reconstruction = the process by which the states that had seceded were reorganized as part of the Union after the Civil War.

5 Reconciliation  What do you think RECONCILIATION means?  “In the wake of the bloodiest, most destructive war of the century, the North and South wanted political and cultural reconciliation. Soldiers on both sides wanted to reconcile with former enemies by recognizing and commemorating their shared sacrifice.”

6 Reconciliation  the act of causing two people or groups to become friendly again after an argument or disagreement.

7 Malice  What do you think MALICE means?

9 Carpetbagger  This is a Carpetbagger – based on the picture, what can you assume about or tell what a carpetbagger is?
