These are things that happen in the story, before the play begins. These are never acted on stage; the characters just talk about them. Example: The Wizard of Oz Sorry Wrong Number Preliminary Situation

5 This is the first important event in the play from which the rest of the plot develops.

6 This is all the action in the play that happens in between the initial incident and the climax.

7 This is the turning point of the action
This is the turning point of the action. It is the moment of intense crisis that determines the outcome of the conflict. Example: The Wizard of Oz Sorry Wrong Number Climax

8 Falling Action This is what happens after the climax.
It is shorter than the rising action. Example: The Wizard of Oz Sorry Wrong Number Falling Action

9 Conclusion The end of the play.
There is often a statement that sums up the entire show. It is the logical outcome of the action; characters succeed, or fail. Example: The Wizard of Oz Sorry Wrong Number Conclusion
