1 Questions & Answers From Monday, August 10, 2009

2 Why do we have to run a mile?  To strengthen your cardiorespiratory system and build endurance.

3 Will we have a test?  Yes. There will be skills tests and a written final for the fitness component of the class.

4 How are we going to get fit?  We will increase our fitness levels through daily physical activities.

5 When will we have activity in this class?  The 1st 9-weeks we have have daily physical activities.

6 Do we run a lot?  We will be engaged in some form of running several days a week.

7 Are we gonna do stuff in front of the class?  There will be few, if any, times that a student will be individually asked to perform a task in front of the entire class.

8 What type of activties will we be doing?  We will be involved in a variety of activities, such as walking, jogging, sprinting, push ups, sit ups, recreational games, etc.

9 How seriously do you take bullying or being made fun of?  I take it very serious. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. If there is ever a problem, please let the instructor know.

10 What do we do on rainy days?  We will still have activities, but we will be either in the mat room, gym, or both.

11 Is this class hard to pass?  This class will be as hard as you make it!  This class will be easy if you actively participate and turn in your assignments.  This class will be as hard as you make it!  This class will be easy if you actively participate and turn in your assignments.

12 Are we going to have to run the mile, shuttle run, push ups, and sit ups everyday?  We will not perform every activity, everyday. We will do each one at least one time per week.

13 Do we change out before we come in here everyday?  No. Report to class in your normal school clothes. We will go to the gym as a class to change in and out.

14 Do we have to have this class more than once?  No. You only have to take it once (as long as you pass).

15 How long do we have to change back after our activities?  You will have 10-minutes to change back, then report back to the classroom for the wrap up.

16 Do we have to participate in the fitness part?  Yes, if you want to pass the class. It is 40% of your final grade.

17 Can we chew gum in this class?  Yes, but chew it responsibly!

18 Can we wear soffees?  As long as they meet the FCHS Dress Code, or permission is given by an administrator.

19 Do we have to run the entire mile?  If you are able to. If you are unable to initially, your goal should be to run the entire mile by the end of the 9-weeks!

20 Will we do the same thing everyday?  No, we will be engaged in a variety of activities throughout the 9-weeks.

21 What are some good cool down exercises?  Light jogging, walking, stretching, etc. Anything that is low intensity and aids in getting your body back to its resting state.

22 How long do we stay outside?  It varies from day-to-day.
