Welcome Hi there, hope you are all excited to learn about body systems! Today we are going to be exploring the respiratory system. In this presentation I will be covering all of the crucial parts of the respiratory system. HAVE FUN!!!

What is it used for The respiratory system is the body system that lets the system breathe, and to deliver oxygen to the blood cells. It contains things such as the lungs the nose and the mouth. The reason blood needs oxygen is so it can stay healthy.

The Lungs The lungs are a vital part to the respiratory system. If we didn’t have a set of lungs, the respiratory system would have no use! The lungs are the storage for O2(oxygen). Did you know that when you hold your breath, the pain that you feel In your chest is actually CO2 poisoning. The lungs are located in the chest, and the rib cage is used for protecting both the lungs, heart and other organs in the chest. The lungs also work as a cushioning function for the heart. www.how-to-boost-your-immune-system.com

The Nose The nose is a part of the body that you can inhale and exhale from. It is located in between your eyes and above your mouth. The part that allows you inhale and exhale are the nostrils. On the nose the nostrils act as a pipe that attaches to the trachea, which leads to the lungs.

The Mouth The mouth is part of a few systems, such as the digestive system, the respiratory system, and the skeletal system. As well as the nose, the mouth is also an air way that leads to the trachea.

The Trachea The trachea(a.k.a, windpipe) is the part that the air travels through to get to the lungs. It is connected to the nose, mouth, and lungs. When near the lungs it branches off into two parts. They are called the left and right main bronchus’. When it gets to the lungs it goes inside and forms something called the bronchial tree.

The Diaphragm The diaphragm is a flat muscle that sits in an area between the stomach and the lungs. The diaphragm is one of the main breathing parts of the respiratory system. What happens is when it contracts, it allows the lungs to breathe in oxygen, and after that, it relaxes, so the lungs can push out carbon dioxide.

The Bronchial Tree When he trachea branches off into the left and right bronchi, he bronchi enter the lungs they branch off into things that look like twigs on a tree, these are called bronchioles. As these get longer they form small bronchioles, these are actually no bigger than 1mm!!! The purpose of these bronchioles are to deliver oxygen to all parts of the lungs. At the end of all small bronchioles ther are tiny sacs called- alveoli. The alveoli are what suck up the oxygen and releases the carbon dioxide
