4 Military  1/3 of a citizens total income was sent to pay for the military

5 Economic Troubles  Inflation caused high prices, which made life even more difficult  High unemployment and homelessness spread throughout Rome

6 Invaders  Germanic “Barbarians” from the north were conquering north part of the empire  Outer edge of the empire was ready to defended but the interior was poorly planned  Roads made it easy for invaders

7 Religion  Traditional Roman gods  Judaism  Christianity
