2. A BOUT /E ARLY L IFE Lana is an American singer/songwriter. Elizabeth Woolridge Grant is her real name she was born with. She uses “Lana del Rey” as her stage name. Born on June 21, 1985 in New York City. She attended private school all the way up until high school. At the age of 15, Lana went to a boarding school in Connecticut for three years to deal with her alcohol addiction. She graduated high school but did not attend college right away.

4. CAREER Lana’s musical career started when she was 18 by just singing in clubs in Brooklyn. Her first big performance was in 2006 at the Williamsburg Live Songwriting Competition. Her first album, “Lana Del Rey” was released in January 2010 After many concerts and performances Lana then released her second album, “Born to Die” in 2012. 3.4 million copies were sold, and made it the fifth best selling album of 2012.

5. C AREER On June 13, 2014, Lana’s 3 rd album, “Ultraviolence” was released. 880,000 copies were sold in the first week.

8. P ERSONAL L IFE Lana Del Rey suffered alcoholism at a young age, but stated that she’s been sober since 2004. On her down time away from making music she worked in community services. She helped in homeless shelters, or alcohol rehabilitation. Lana had some relationships but is not married. She now lives in Los Angeles with her siblings.

10. A CCOMPLISHMENTS Lana has been nominated for various awards and has been very successful in her musical career so far. Lana’s single “Born to Die” won the UK Music Video Award for best international pop video in 2012. “Born to Die” was the year’s fifth best selling album and by 2014 It sold more than 7 million copies. She has also won the GQ award for the Woman of the Year in 2012, the Q Award for Next Big Thing, and the Brit Award for International Breakthrough Act.
