How many steps does it take to make 1 single product? 1 st - A farmer must grow the plants and/or raise the animals. 2 nd - The business must supply materials or services to the farmers to get and keep their businesses running. 3 rd – The farmer must sell his materials to a business/ factory that will turn the goods into finished products. 4 th – The product will be processed, packaged, and labeled. 5 th – The manufacturing company will hire an advertising company to market the finished products so consumers will buy it. 6 th – The product will be shipped and stocked onto stores across the world.

3. Doesn’t seem like much? Think of all the people that it takes to operate each of the different steps.  Factories don’t hire only 1 worker, they hire hundreds.  How many truck drivers do you see on the roads?  Don’t forget to count the researchers and developers that look for ways to improve the product so it can be sold with a different label (ex-reduced fat)
