GLOBAL WARMING PROJECT BY: NATALIE CAMPION AND GRACE HALES

This is the Global Average Temperature in the past 140 years. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks3/science/environment_earth_univ erse/changes_in_environment/revision/6/

What is Global Warming? Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth's climate. http://www.livescience.com /topics/global-warming/

Why is it happening? When we release carbon dioxide it is like putting more clothes on the earth, leading to increased temperatures in the air from the ground surface up to an altitude of almost 20 kilometers. Carbon dioxide is causing all the fuss now, but there are many other gases that also cause warming. http://www.ncsm.city.nagoya.j p/en/global_warming/why.htm l

How is Global Warming impacting different regions of the earth? The polar ice is melting in the South and North poles and Greenland due to the rise in temperature. There is more forest fires in dryer climates such as California due to the change in temperature (own words). Climate Change has shifted the boundaries of plant and animal habitats, with some birds in the United States extending their boundaries northward and trees moving farther up mountains, new studies show. Trees are flowering sooner in Spring, accelerated sea level rise is happening especially along the east coast and longer, more intense heat waves are happening in Europe. http://climate.nasa.gov/effects/

We plan to reduce Global Warming/Climate Change by cutting down car usage by using battery powered cars. We will also build roads that will charge battery powered cars and building Pavegen tiles on sidewalks, inside businesses and schools. This can help provide energy instead of producing CO2. All of this can help provide more jobs for workers that have lost their jobs due to reducing Global Warming. We can also encourage recycling, reusing, and reducing which will help us to not create so much waste. We can do this by providing businesses, schools, and homes with recycling bins. We could also stop the use of fossil fuels by using other energy sources which we will go into more detail about later in the presentation. By stopping the use of fossil fuels it will reduce the production of Carbon Dioxide. HOW WILL YOU REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING?

WHAT ENERGY SOURCES ARE YOU CONVERTING TO? Some energy sources that we are going to convert to are solar power, wind power, water power, and biomass. We will have solar power in states like Florida, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Hawaii because we will get the most solar energy from those states. We will have water power on the coasts and other big lakes and rivers. We will have wind power in states like Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Iowa. Other states have yet to be determined.

HOW WILL YOU AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE PAY FOR THIS? The American people will pay for this by raising taxes by $1 and using that one dollar to go to global warming.

WHAT CHANGES WILLL “WE THE PEOPLE” SEE IF WE VOTE TO APPROVE YOUR PROPOSAL? The changes that Americans will see if you vote to approve our proposal are more battery powered cars, more use of wind, water, and solar power, less Carbon released into the air, and more recycling, reusing, and reducing.

WILL YOU HAVE OTHER COUNTRIES INVOLVED? MEETINGS OR COUNCILS? We will have other countries involved, especially countries with a lot of pollution. For example, China, Japan, Brazil, United Kingdom, and Indonesia. Which means there will have to be multiple meetings, councils, and Agreements.

WE HOPE YOU VOTE FOR US!
