God’s Rainbow Genesis 9:8-15

God put things in the sky 1.Pillar of cloud (by day); pillar of fire (night) 2.The star – at the birth of Jesus 3.The rainbow – as a reminder

2 things necessary for a rainbow 1.A disturbance in heaven (storm, rain, thunder) 2.Sunlight on earth (a symbol of hope; the storm is moving away) NOTICE SOME FACTS ABOUT THE RAINBOW

1 – MAN DID NOT ASK FOR IT The rainbow is part of a COVENANT Man does not bargain with a covenant Covenants are made by the superior (God) and offered to the lesser (man) We don’t negotiate – We accept or reject it God sets the terms and conditions God makes the promises

2 – MAN CAN NOT DESTROY IT Rainbows happen under certain conditions – man can not control The rainbow is a promise from God. Song – Standing on the Promises 2 Corinthians 1:20 – For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

2 – MAN CAN NOT DESTROY IT Mark it down. When God promises, He will keep His word. Man can not foil the promise of God. Esther 4:14a – For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place.

2 – MAN CAN NOT DESTROY IT Luke 19:40 – But he answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” GOD WILL NOT ALLOW HIS PROMISE TO BE PROGEN OR FOILED.

3 – THE RAINBOW IS GOD’S REMINDER Genesis 9:15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.

3 – THE RAINBOW IS GOD’S REMINDER Genesis 9:16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."

3 – THE RAINBOW IS GOD’S REMINDER The purpose of the rainbow is – It is God’s reminder Man’s wedding ring is not for others to know his promise. My wedding ring is so I will remember the vow I made.

4 – THE RAINBOW TOUCHES HEAVEN AND EARTH HEAVEN – It is God’s reminder of the promise – The earth will not be destroyed by a flood. EARTH – We also see the rainbow and remember the promise of God.

5 – NOBODY HAS SEEN A COMPLETE RAINBOW 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.“ 1 Kings 10:7a However I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half was not told me.

5 – NOBODY HAS SEEN A COMPLETE RAINBOW Revelation 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. A total, complete rainbow would be a complete circle. In heaven, around the throne of God, there will be complete rainbow.

WHEN YOU SEE A RAINBOW Remember why it is there. Remember that God keeps His promises. Remember that the rainbow is the sign of the covenant with God. ARE YOU IN COVENANT WITH GOD?
