2 Warm Up Copy the Essential Question on the top of page 45: How do you efficiently translate between representations (algebraically, graphically, numerically, in tables, and situations) of a linear function? Answer the following questions in complete sentences! 1. Describe how the dependent variable changes as the independent variable changes in a linear relationship. Give Examples. 2. How does the pattern of change for a linear relationship show up in a table, a graph, and an equation of the relationship?

13 2.2 Crossing the Line How can you tell how long the race should be from the graph and table? What information does the point (20, 50) represent in the problem? Would this be a data point for Henri or for Emile? How does the pair of values (10,55) from the table show up on the graph? How is it related to the equation?
