Privilege of Being Commissioned

Matt 16:13-19 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is? They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven."

Privilege of Being Commissioned Matt 16:13-19 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Privilege of Being Commissioned Matt 16:19 “I now commission you with the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you lock up on earth, with these keys, will be locked in heaven, and whatever you unlocked on earth will be unlocked in heaven.”

Privilege of Being Commissioned Practical Applications: Individual: What – seek and save the lost How does it apply to each of us, specifically? James 4:8 “Come near to God and He will come near to you”

Privilege of Being Commissioned Practical Applications: I have a dream today… I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low. The rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall se it together. This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.

Privilege of Being Commissioned Practical Applications: With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. This will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with a new meaning…....

Privilege of Being Commissioned Practical Applications: Local Church: Transforming cities by proclaiming and releasing the love of Jesus
