Metric Conversions You are expected to know (memorize) the following metric conversions. centimeters = 1 meter millimeters = 1 meter decimeters = 1 meter meters = 1 kilometer

Factor Label Method Steps 1.Start with the given information. Put the given information (number & units) over “1.” 2.Work through the relationships until you get to the desired one. The units you are changing to go in the numerator; the units you are eliminating go in the denominator. 3.Round your final answer to the same # of digits as the given #.

Bring Your Calculator!!! A scientific calculator is highly recommended --EE or EXP button --LOG or 10 x button If you have a regular calculator without these buttons, you will have to do sci not by hand

Examples #1 & 2 1. Convert 32 grams into ounces. [28.3 grams = 1 ounce] 2.Convert 52.5 inches to centimeters. [2.54 cm = 1 inch]
