2 Facts about the Bald Eagle Size: Body, 34 to 43 in (86 to 109 cm); Wingspan, 6 to 8 ft (1.8 to 2.4 m) Did you know??? The largest bald eagle nest on record was 9.5 ft (3 m) wide and 20 ft (6 m) high. It weighed more than two tons. Bald Eagles live up to 28 years

3 The bald eagle's scientific name signifies a sea (halo) eagle (aeetos) with a white (leukos) head. At one time, the word "bald" meant "white," not hairless. Half of the world’s bald eagle’s live in alaska Bald eagles were officially declared an endangered species in 1967 in all areas of the United States south of the 40th parallel.
