In order to achieve this, students need to analyze structure, language and style in addition to aspects such as text type, context, bias and/or ideological position. WRITING PROMPT

12 Contains a subject and arguable opinion. Example: “civilization vs. savagery” is not a theme, but it is a worthy subject for a theme. Example: “civilization and savagery play major roles in the novel” is not a theme because it is an easily observable fact about the subject, not an arguable opinion. Example: “An innate sense of savagery undermines the facade of civilization and morality" is a workable theme because there is an opinion that can/must be proved. THEME
