3 Planning and Decision Making Memory Reed Harris County High School July 2008 Planning – setting goals & objectives for your organization or department to achieve Decision Making – In order to achieve goals, choices have to be made as to what to do – the manager is responsible for making the decisions

4 Organizing, Staffing, And Communicating Memory Reed Harris County High School July 2008 Organizing – putting together business operations in logical and meaningful ways. Making sure everything is available to accomplish goals. Staffing – hiring the right people to accomplish organizational goals Communicating – Verbally and nonverbally interacting with people in the organization. It is important that everyone in the organization communicate with one another in order to be able to reach company goals.

5 Motivating and Leading Memory Reed Harris County High School July 2008 Motivating – Creating the desire to achieve.  Internal – From within the employee such as desire to do a good job or be efficient  External - From outside sources such as an incentive like a bonus or raise Leading – Getting employees to voluntarily want to reach company goals.

Making sure business activities are going in the right direction by taking preventative action and corrective action. Making sure the business is efficient & productive.
