5 Legisl. Assts. 2 nd type of personal staff Called LAs Ensure lawmaker well informed Researches, draft bills, studies bills, writes speeches and articles for lawmaker Attends meetings when lawmaker cannot

6 Caseworker 3 rd type personal staff Handle many requests from member’s constituents

7 Committee Staff Draft bills, study issues, collect information Largely responsible for work involved in making laws

8 Library of Congress Largest library in world Destroyed during War of 1812 Jefferson’s collection helped rebuild

9 Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Est’d. in 1974 Coordinates budget of Congress Studies president’s budget proposals Projects costs of proposed programs
