Hurry Up and Wait Psalm 27:13-14

Definition of Wait or Waiting to stay in a place until an expected event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something, etc. : to not do something until something else happens. : to remain in a state in which you expect or hope that something will happen soon.

Some Initial Thoughts About Waiting Most of the time, WAITING is perceived as a "bad thing" or "not to be desired” Almost everything in our Western culture opposes it While it can be “good” in the service world we live, is that what God is looking for from us in our relationship with Him?

Almost everything in our society opposes it….

The list goes on and on…..

But is Waiting really a "bad thing"? Look at these scriptures concerning waiting…..

Psalm 27:13-14 13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 59:9 Because of his strength, I will wait upon Thee; for God is my defense.

Psalm 62:5 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Psalm 37:7 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Proverbs 20:22 22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.

Isaiah 40:31 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

But is Waiting really a "bad thing"? Have we allowed ourselves to be "Conformed to this World"? Ephesians 6:12 TLB For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies—the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.

Points to Ponder on WAITING

Waiting is part of the process after you plant something You reap in a different season than when you plant. Ecclesiastes 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

Remember that Satan knows how much you hate Waiting 2 Corinthians 2:11 NIV in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. He attacks your mind while you wait with: Discouragement Depression Doubt Distractions Defeat

Guard Thy Heart with ALL Diligence Proverbs 4:23: KJV…Keep thy heart with all…. Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life. Think about what you are thinking about!

Remember, To Everything, there is a Season.... The story of a father, his sons and the pear trees

There was a man who had four sons He wanted his sons to learn a valuable lesson – so he sent them each on a quest. In turn, to go and observe a single Pear Tree Each son traveled to the Pear Tree, each son in a different Season... The first son traveled to see the tree in the Winter The second son in Spring The third son in Summer The fourth son in Fall

When they had all returned from their travels, he called them together to each describe what they had seen... The first son said the tree was ugly, bent, old and gnarled. Not much use to anyone... The second son said it was covered in green buds and full of promise... The third son disagreed; he said it was full of blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful. The tree was the most graceful thing he'd ever seen.... The last son disagreed with all of them. He said it was ripe and dropping with fruit. Full of life and fulfillment...

The father then explained to his sons that they were each right, because each had witnessed only one Season in the tree's life He told them you cannot judge a tree or a person by only one season... Not all things are possible in all seasons. Joy comes from recognizing and appreciating the challenges and opportunities in each Season of Life... If you give up when it's Winter… you will miss the promise of Spring... the beauty of your Summer… and the fulfillment of your Fall... Don't let the pain of one Season destroy the JOY of all the rest.... Take time each day to discover how beautiful your season can be... Let us relish life as we live it and find Joy in the Journey To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven... Eccl.3:1
