Huey K.D The huey (helicopter) gave the US an advantage because it made transporting troops and supplies easier in the dense jungles of Vietnam. Also helped taking the wounded and dead out of Vietnam. The huey created a new style of warfare and mobility was much easier so the troops liked having them. The biggest fear though was crashing into the ground. They would curl up to make more space and sat on helmet to protect their special parts.

Chinook MM  American twin engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter  Main roles are troop movements, artillery placement and battlefield resupply  One of the fastest helicopters in US inventory  Among the heaviest lifting western helicopters  Was introduced in 1962

Iroquois MM  Helicopter powered by a single turboshaft engine, with two bladed main and tail rotors  Used by the US Army in Vietnam  7,000 saw action in Vietnam  Design also adopted by Australians later on

Phantom AS First entered in 1960 and was created by the US Navy Supersonic jet/interceptor aircraft/fighter bomber Used for both Navy and Air Force Became important in ground attack and aerial recon Carries air to air missiles, air to ground missiles, and various bombs Slang Term: Double Ugly

B-52 AS Designed to achieve high altitude penetration of enemy airspace First used in South Vietnam in 1965 (SAC B-52’s) Purpose: Support ground tactical operations, interdict enemy lines in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, and later in North Vietnam Slang terms: B.U.F. ( Big Ugly F****r) Used by US Air Force since 1950s

Napalm KM -Napalm is a gel like substance on fire, dropped in the form of bombs to incinerate enemy personnel and buildings, or really anything - Used by the Americans in Vietnam Conflict, as well as Japanese cities in WWII - Not really any defense against it just hope you don’t get hit

Agent Orange KM  Herbicide used to deforest Vietnam to to make warfare easier in a non-jungle  Used by Americans at beginning of Vietnam  Most soldiers didn’t even know about it  Now lots of vets have health issues due to Agent Orange, have health problems such as cancer and are dying from it

Foo Gas MS Foo gas is a type of mine or explosive device which uses an explosive charge to project burning liquid onto a target.mineexplosive device Used by Americans in the Vietnam War. For enemies above ground many were affected but for enemies below ground many were safe.

Operation Rolling Thunder MS Was the title of a gradual and sustained aerial bombardment campaign done by the US. Happened March 2nd 1965 – November 2nd 1968 Bombing Campaign against North Vietnam

Operation Crimp KD Operation that the American and Australian forces lead in the Binh Duong Province. Mission was to destroy Viet Cong headquarters. Used tunnel rats to search through tunnels that lead to headquarters. Troops did not want to do this because they had to search through tunnels and many died from booby traps and the enemy. Troops really did not have any defense expect their guns and any other weapons they had.
