Security And Shelter Firstly the students must feel safe and comfortable. The space must be inviting it should include: comfortable chairs plush rug work stations schedule should be posted Alternate seating for children that feel more more comfortable sitting alone Inviting reading area provides comfort and sense of belonging

Social Contact Seating arrangements should be clustered Horseshoe seating Small reading and work groups. The lunchroom is an area that the children come together and can socialize freely Three to a table seating allows students to work in small groups The rug in the classroom is where the children join together to do collective learning

Symbolic Identification Shows who uses the space Name tags Celebration of culture Children’s names and birthdays are posted Name tags are posted at their seat

Task Instrumentality Overhead projector Technology Corner (computer desk) Audio area (books on CD) Magnetic letter work station Computer work station Clear space on white board is used to show overhead projector lessons and used for magnetic letter work station

Pleasure Cozy corners Bright attractive colors Healthy space Plants Lamps Private storage for each child Bright colorful sentence reading area

Growth Development Cooperation Math center Numbers on wall Learning supplies Reward Tracking Behavior chart used to track child's rewards Learning supplies for current and future lessons Word wall is used to track students vocabulary
