The county is home to three of the state’s largest incorporated cities: Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas. The county is racially diverse with 10% of its citizens identifying as Black or African American and nearly 30% identifying as Hispanic or Latino. 1

Brown NEVADA CAUCUS BACKGROUNDPRESENTATION CENTER Washoe County – “The Sole Swing County” The county is home to the state’s second largest metropolitan area, anchored by Reno and Sparks, with a population of over 425,000. More registered Republicans than Democrats yet Obama won the county twice in both the 2008 and 2012 elections. Washoe County is largely inhabited by White Americans, with less than 25% of its population identifying as a racial minority. Median household income is just over $40,000, significantly below the nationwide median household income of $53,000.
