Wave Equations

Frequency Frequency is the number of cycles per time second – the unit is hertz. One cycle is measured from peak to peak or trough to trough. 2 cycles per second = 2 hertz

Period Is the time it take for a wave to pass a certain point. Period = 1/frequency or T= 1/f Example if a bird flaps at a frequency of 121 hertz (cycles per second). The period is 1/121 = ~0.00826 seconds Frequency equals 1/period 1/0.00826 = ~121 hertz

The Wave Equation Speed = Wavelength Frequency

Work out the speed of these slinky waves.
