1 Tarantulas Very big

2 What they eat Tarantulas are carnivores. They eat all kinds of insects, especially larger ones like crickets and grasshoppers, June beetles, cicadas, and caterpillars. Larger tarantulas will also eat frogs, toads, and small rodents like mice. A South American species, the Goliath birdeater, is known to eat small birds as well, although these make up only a small part of their diet.

3 Were do they live Many tarantulas prefer to live in the ground, instead of in a web or in a tree. Often, they will find a cool, dry hole to live in. They do not live together. Each tarantula is fiercely individual, having its own hole and eating and sleeping patterns. Often, food is dragged into the home to eat. This can range from a small bug to a baby bird.

4 How long can they live for The lifespan of an adult male may be as short as a few weeks, to two years or more depending upon species and conditions in captivity. Most males, especially burrowing species, will not last more than six months to a year and a half under ideal conditions. Females may live 10, 20, even 30 or more years depending on the species. The longer lifespan makes females worth more.
