1 Pre-Stage 3 Advisory 2016 Information for students in Stage 2 Dr Tasman Crowe (asdean.science@ucd.ie) Science Office (Science@ucd.ie)

2  Need a minimum of 50 Stage 2 credits and 60 Stage 1 credits to progress to Stage 3.  All DN200 students must complete the subject selection form and return it to the Science Office by 5 pm on Thursday April 14 th (or we will fill it out on your behalf).  You fill out either single-major or joint-major preferences.  For single-major you must list all of your Stage 2 subjects in order of preference. Progressing to Stage 3

4  98-99% of students get their first choice of degree major  Pharmacology, Neuroscience and Physiology are sometimes oversubscribed.  Criteria for allocation: (i) Student order of preference on forms handed in by the deadline and then (if needed) (ii) Stage 2 GPA.  We will inform you of subject demand by the end of semester, and your degree major is assigned after final exam results. 5 Looking further ahead… the importance of Stage 3  In Stage 3, in order to enter Stage 4, you must obtain a GPA of at least 2.48.  Your final degree classification is based 70% on your final year and 30% on your penultimate year  four year degree = 70 : 30, stage 4 : stage 3  three year degree = 70 : 30, stage 3 : stage 2  Stage 4 project allocation may be based on Stage 3 GPA
