Equilateral, Isosceles, Scalene, Right, Acute, Obtuse Types of Triangles
Classified by side lengths Triangles are classified by their congruent sides A triangle will be equilateral, isosceles, or scalene
Equilateral Triangles All three sides have same length All angles measure 60 degrees, always
Isosceles Triangles Two sides are equal in length Only two angles have same measure Isosceles, two E's, two congruent sides
Scalene Triangles No sides are equal No angles are equal in measure Weird name, weird looking
Classified by angle measures Triangles are classified by the measures of their angles A triangle will be right, acute, or obtuse
Right Triangles One angle must measure 90 degrees 90 degree angle is called a right angle
Acute Triangles All angles measure less than 90 degrees Its angles are so small, isn't is a cute one?
Obtuse Triangles One angle measures greater than 90 degrees Cannot have more than one angle greater than 90 degrees
Remember This... A triangle has 3 sides 3 angles are made where the sides connect The angles total to 180 degrees; no more, no less The area can be found by taking 1/2 of the base times the height

Classifying Triangles. What do we remember about classifying angles? What are the different types of angles? Acute, right, obtuse, and straight.
HOW MANY SIDES ARE THERE, AND WHAT IS THEIR ANGLE?
Classifying Triangles Students will classify triangles using the lengths of the sides and the angles. S. Calahan October 2010.

EQUILATERAL & ISOSCELES Quiz tomorrow. CLASSIFY the triangle by ANGLES and SIDES Angles: acute, obtuse, right Sides:equilateral, isosceles, scalene 91.
Triangle Inequality Notes. Triangle Inequality Theorem Scalene triangle: A triangle that has no congruent (equal) sides. None of their angles are congruent.
© M. Tallman All three sides are congruent. 4 inches 4 inches 4 inches All three angles are also congruent, 60°. 60° 60° 60° Note: an equilateral triangle.
Triangle A polygon with three sides and three angles. A triangle can be names by its’ side lengths and angles. – Side lengths: isosceles, equilateral,
