2 http://mathinscience.info2 All About Arthropods Arthropods are animals that have an outside skeleton, called an exoskeleton; and they have jointed feet or legs.

3 http://mathinscience.info3 Insects, crustaceans, and arachnids are all arthropods. 81% of all animals are arthropods! Insects, crustaceans, and arachnids are all arthropods. 81% of all animals are arthropods!

4 http://mathinscience.info4 Arthropods: Insects Insects have 6 legs and three body parts. The three parts are the head, the thorax, and the abdomen. A cricket is a good example of an insect.

5 http://mathinscience.info5 Arthropod: Arachnid Arachnids have 8 legs and two body parts. The two parts are the cephalothorax and the abdomen. Arachnids include spiders, ticks, mites, and scorpions.

6 http://mathinscience.info6 Rose Tarantula The Rose Tarantula comes from Chile and could not survive in cold weather. The Rose Tarantula can live up to 20 years; it grows by molting.

7 http://mathinscience.info7 Emperor Scorpion The Emperor Scorpion comes from Africa. Scorpions give birth to live young and live from 2 to 10 years, but some can live up to 25 years!

8 http://mathinscience.info8 Arthropod: Crustaceans Crustaceans have 10 legs, a hard shell and breathe through gills. Some examples of crustaceans are crabs, lobster, crayfish, and shrimp.

9 http://mathinscience.info9 Hermit Crabs Hermit crabs are found all over the world. They are born without a shell and they must find a shell to protect them.
