1 Do Now: Why was the Battle of Saratoga important? Why was the Battle of Yorktown important?

2  Saratoga: Turning point of the war, French join the American cause.  Yorktown: A united Patriotic/French army force General Cornwallis to surrender. Effectively ending the war.

3  American diplomats go to Paris to draw up terms of the British surrender.  John Jay, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin.  Ended the war between the United States and Great Britain.

6 1. Unconditional independence to the Americas. 2. Established new boundaries. (Mississippi in the west, Florida/Georgia in the South, and Canada in the North) 3. Freedom of both Britain and U.S. to use the Mississippi River. 4. British troops removed from the Americas as soon as possible.
