Georgia Licensing Overview

2 Purpose The purpose of this PowerPoint is to:
Provide new teachers with a meaningful overview of the Georgia Licensing Rules and Regulations. Share what we know about the childcare center laws. Educate our teachers about ratios, proper diapering procedures, handling of bodily fluid, and other health and safety regulations.

3 Diapering Procedure Wash your hands Assemble your supplies
Gently place child on changing table Put gloves on Remove soiled diaper Wipe child from front to back Remove gloves and wrap soiled diaper into gloves Wipe your hand with a fresh diaper wipe Place clean diaper on child Dress the child Wash the child’s hands properly Dispose of the soiled diaper, wipes, and gloves Return child to supervised playing area Disinfect changing area

4 Handwashing Procedure
Before, during, and after preparing food Before eating food Before and after caring for someone who is sick Before and after treating a cut or wound After using the toilet After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing After touching an animal or animal waste After handling pet food or pet treats After touching garbage After changing rooms (teacher or student) Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold) and apply soap. Rub your hands together to make a lather and scrub them well; be sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. Continue rubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the "Happy Birthday" song from beginning to end twice. Rinse your hands well under running water. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them. How To: When:

6 Keep it in closets or shelving
Non-Hazards Non-toxic paints Non-toxic glues Child scissors for age appropriate children Age appropriate toys Toys in working condition Whip cream Cleaning chemicals kept in closet Office equipment kept in shelving or closets

7 Incident Report An incident report must be completely filled out for each and every accident. Please call up front for questions about filling one out or if the injury needs further care (i.e. ice, band aid, triple antibiotic, etc.) Additionally, please let an administrator review the report prior to presenting the report to parents for signature.

8 Sick Policy This policy is for both students and teachers. You may NOT return to our school unless you are free of symptoms for 24 hours, if you: Have a fever of 101˚ or higher Have had diarrhea and/or 2 or more loose stools Have vomited Are contagious or have any communicable disease
