3 Moses and Jesus are mentioned more often than Muhammad. It is made up of the messages Mohammad received from the angel Jibril for 22 years. Verses written in Mecca are mostly about Allah’s uniqueness: TAWHID. Verses that were written in Medina give LAWS about how Muslims must live written down in Arabic 20 years after Muhammad’s death - only one version was allowed. Any other versions were burned. Written as poetry, in verses (=Surah). There is no story line – no real beginning, middle or end. The Qu’ran is not written in the same order in which the messages were given. It is memorized from cover-to-cover in Arabic by millions of people, even if they don’t speak Arabic The Qu’ran must not be changed. Translated versions are not a “proper” Qu’ran. Qu’ran means “the collection” All About the Qu’ran Draw an image of the Qu’ran. Choose 7 facts and add them around your drawing. **Which facts are the most surprising ? Why ? What do you think explains the fact that the same stories as are in the Bible are found in the Qu’ran? **Why is there is more in the Qu’ran about Moses and Jesus than Muhammad himself? What do you think the angel’s messages were about? The bible was written about 500 years before Muhammad was born.If Muhammad* was a trader before he heard the angel’s messages, he may have heard these stories from talking to many Christians and Jews, rather than directly from an angel. Muslims disagree. They say that the Angel Jibril told Muhammad the correct version of all that really happened over these thousands of years. Also that Muhammed* “met” Jesus and the other prophets in vision-meetings with them, and they told him the “truth” of what the Bible really says.

6 Inappropriate treatment of the Qu’ran by US forces is angering Muslims and inciting them to violence against US troops in Afghanistan.
