2 States of matter Gases move rapidly filling the entire container. Gases form when atoms do not have enough attractive force to stay near each other. Liquids consist of disorganized atoms/molecules which are attracted to each other. Solids are organized structures with lots of attraction and little “freedom” to move most movement least movement

3 Lab Monday Purpose: To learn about molecular motion. Procedure: 1.Obtain a 600 mL beaker of ice, a thermometer, a Bunsen burner, a stirring rod, and a piece of graph paper. 2.Every 1 min, take the temperature of the H 2 O until the temperature doesn’t change for three measurements in a row– even if you continue to heat the water. Results: Data Table: Time vs. Temperature: Observations Conclusion: Graph your data, note on the graph where a change of state occurred. Explain how temperature is related to the change of state. TimeTemp( o C)Observations 0 min Ice, some water on the bottom, slightly whitish, mostly clear 1 min
