2 RESUME PROJECT (50 pts or 0 pts…) Use brief phrases instead of complete, descriptive sentences Use the present tense for current experiences and use the past tense to write about previous experience. 3 Cover Letter (20 pts) DIRECTIONS: Write a Cover Letter that explains the reasons for your interest in the specific open position, identify your most relevant skills or experiences (remember, relevance is determined by the employer's self-interest). Your letter should express a high level of interest and knowledge about the position. Include an intro, body, and closing. **Use the examples in your Accounting book and Mr. Rock’s Cover letter at www.mrrocksclassroom.weebly.com as a guide. www.mrrocksclassroom.weebly.com 1)Go to MS Word, select New, search for Cover Letter, pick a format you like and looks professional. Explain the purpose of your letter – to apply for a job. Body Present your knowledge, skills, abilities, and measurable accomplishments. Explain what you bring to the company and how you benefit them. Closing Request an interview, indicate when & how you will follow up with the employer (be specific, persistent, but not bothersome)

SLIDE Investigating Your CAREER Cover Letter Example INTRO: I am impressed with the philosophy of your school at Bullitt East with regard to academic excellence, high expectations and preparing students for both academic and career success, therefore, I would like to begin my teaching career with your school and apply for the Business Teacher posting. More particularly, I would like to help your students achieve higher levels of learning and application of financial literacy and business acumen. BODY: I have a B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Louisville, and I have recently finished my M.A.T. in Business Education & Marketing at the University of Louisville. My graduation date is May 12, 2012. I was recently awarded the Outstanding Student Business and Marketing Award from the University of Louisville and the Dr. Kathleen Drummond Delta Pi Epsilon Scholarship Award. After having a successful and rewarding career in lending for nine years, I decided to begin helping young people better prepare for their financial future. While completing my Master’s I have demonstrated my strong work ethic and commitment to excellence to help prepare me to successfully teach the future leaders of tomorrow. CLOSING: My resume and application are enclosed for your further consideration. I recently completed the PLT Praxis exam April 28 and I am waiting to receive the results. I will forward my official transcripts after UofL posts the M.A.T. degree, which should be approximately May 10, along with my letters of recommendation from my University Supervisor and Capstone Professor.
