5 Objective 2 Market and non-market valuation Market –Landed values; –Ecotourism values (in coll. with WP 9); –Total cost; –Economic rent. Non-market –Meta-analysis of available valuation results in the literature; –Damage schedule approach (in coll. with WP 6).

6 Objective 2 Key elements of valuation Cost of fishing by gear type; Landed values from coastal resources; Habitat-fishery interactions and values; Discounting and future generation values; Damage schedule-current and future generation values; Identify other case specific values (e.g. tourism, MPA values: in coll. with WP 6&7).

7 Objective 3 Analysis of ineffective management Map out characteristics of ineffective management; Use above to develop and quantify economic and social indicators of ineffective management.

8 Objective 3 Analysis of ineffective management Examples of socio-economic indicators of ineffective mgt (in coll. with WP 7): –Poverty index; –Subsidy index; –Management legitimacy index; –Overcapacity index; –Political sensitivity index; –Public perception index.

9 Objective 4 Social impact assessment Assess the impact of management of coastal resources on the distribution of benefits to different sectors and groups; Develop Socioeconomic Impact Assessment Models (SEIAMs) that will allow us track coastal resource benefits to: –Male/female; –Small-large scale; –Formal education level.

10 Objective 5: Policy options Use results from (1-4) above to derive policy options for sustainable fisheries and coastal resource management.
