3. From the main page of your Phoenix StudentVue account, select the COURSE REQUEST box

5. 8 th Grade Electives – Pick 2 World languages – level I or level II Music – band, chorus, strings, guitar Manufacturing, Teen Living, Art, & Communications (only for students who did not take in 7 th grade) Choose based on your interest, not your friends – you may make changes until June 23 by submitting a note or e-mail to your student’s counselor.

9. If you did not take World Language this year and you want to begin in 8 th grade, select Level 1 If you are currently taking Level 1, you do not need to select anything, your recommendation for next year is already listed on your course requests If you want to change your recommendation, have your parent email me the change You can Expunge your current World Language grade at the end of 7 th grade

10. Things to Consider for the 2016-2017 School Year Our capacity to be flexible regarding student scheduling during this enrollment boom is decreasing. Due to circumstances completely beyond our control, for the first time we may not be able to fulfill all elective choices for students. As a result, students will rank their elective choices and we may need to utilize their 2 nd, 3 rd, or 4 th choice to create schedules for all students. So, students need to be thoughtful about their alternative choices.

You have just selected your classes for next year Please make sure you talk with your parents about 8 th grade Course Selections Log onto your StudentVue account to show your parents your teacher recommendations, your elective choices and your alternate choice for next year Do you remember the steps to make your Course Selections?

15. From main page of StudentVue, select Course Requests Click box to change Course Requests to view teacher recommendations, electives and alternates you have chosen To make changes click the box Search Courses to view electives and alternates available for 8 th grade

16. Click the button that says Remove, to delete a selected elective or alternate To select an elective click Request, to select an alternate, click Alternate, then click the top where it says Click here to move selected requests to Selected Course Requests

17. A completed 8 th grade Course Request will have 8 selections for next year and 1 alternate listed below. Refer to the Course Catalog, which is the Middle School Program of Studies Courses with an A are Academic level, courses with an H are Honors level Locked courses can be changed by sending an email to Mrs. Jacoby. Please consider contacting the teacher before requesting a change of a recommendation.

18. What happens next? Teacher recommendations will be made for all core courses in Parentvue (new LCPS course selection request procedure) Parents will be able to view teacher recommendations beginning February 8, 2016. Teacher recommendations cannot be edited online in Studentvue or Parentvue. Students will be picking their elective courses in Studentvue February 8 – February 19 during school. Students and/or parents may edit elective choices (but not core courses) online until March 4, 2016. After that deadline, if you would like to make a change to either an elective choice or override a teacher recommendation for a core course, you may do so by contacting your child’s counselor until June 23, 2016. There will be no course changes after June 23, 2016.
