Be sure that both questions have a sentence that leads into the question and demonstrates your knowledge of the events that happened. See questions # 3 and 4 from the interview on pgs. 147-148 if you need a reference.

2. Today we will be reading the myth Persephone Before we read, however, turn to pg. 154 and answer the Before Reading questions.

5. After reading putting events in chronological order Zeus agrees to let Persephone return to her mother. Demeter allows the crops to wither and fail. The world experiences different seasons. Persephone returns to her mother. Demeter finds out that Hades has kidnapped her daughter. Hades kidnaps Persephone and takes her to the underworld. Persephone eats some pomegranate seeds.

6. 4. In your role as a reported, imagine that you have learned from a reliable source that Persephone has been found and will be returned to her mother. Since she accepted food from Hades, she will have to return to the underworld for several months each year. During her time in the underworld, everything in the living world will wither away. Why is this an important story to share with the rest of the world? How might people react to this change in their world?

13. 5. The headline for a news story has the important job of catching the reader's interest, getting him or her to read the article or watch the story. What have you noticed about the real news headlines?

14. 6. Use your notes about headlines and about the story to help you write a headline for the news story about Persephone's return.

15. 7. You have practiced writing an interview report using open-ended questions. In Persephone, the various gods and goddesses have different opinions about the decision to let Persephone go back to her mother.
