These Beautiful Blue Federal Cards (HOLD IT UP) you are receiving today are DUE NO LATER Than THURSDAY!! The first class to have all their cards returned will receive a prize. 6. Color Guard Team 3 report for duty this week. Congratulations to all our Reflections writers, dancers, artists, musicians, photographers and film-makers. We loved your work -- but it is time to pick it up in the library and take it home.

7. Here’s the news you need to know: Attention 5 th grade students Love reading? Love Sharing ideas from books? Love vocabulary? then you will love to be a member of the Battle of the Books. Permission slips are now available for Battle of the Books in the library.

8. Applications for the elementary STEM Robotics Club, are due today! Turn them in to your teacher or place them in the envelope by the computer lab door.

9. The Middle School SCA is selling t-shirts with this year’s theme, “Creating Connections.” Any student in middle school is eligible to purchase one for $10.00. Mr. Bone extended the deadline to forms are this morning. Turn in your order forms now! All SCA General Assembly members are encouraged to purchase a shirt. See Mr. Bone if you have any questions.

10. Friday, November 13 will be Hat Day! For only $1.00 donation to United Way. Let's make it a fun day for everyone! Make the hats unique and fun...crazy, creative, cowboy, sports, etc. (You get the picture.) It would be great if at least 600 kids and 100% of faculty and staff to wear them. We have a United Way goal to reach of 1000 dollars and this could make that happen!

11. Academic Challenge Team tryouts will take place this Thursday, November 12 during focus. All interested sixth, seventh and eighth graders who enjoy trivia and the thrill of competition are encouraged to try out! For more information see Mr. Fritzinger in room 303!

12. Make-up pictures will take place tomorrow during all lunches. Elementary school will be on stage and middle school will be in the large gym. Students who missed picture day the first time need to have their picture taken even if they don’t plan on purchasing them. Students who purchased pictures and want to retake their pictures need to bring the original photos with them to lunch to give to the photographer.

13. Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day–a common misunderstanding, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Memorial Day (the fourth Monday in May) honors American service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle, while Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans–living or dead–but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
