2 Nouns Recall that nouns name people, places, things, ideas, and animals. All nouns can be categorized into 2 groups: Common Nouns, and Proper Nouns.

3 Common Nouns Common Nouns are nouns that are not specific. They are not capitalized unless they are at the beginning of a sentence or part of a title.

4 Proper Nouns Proper Nouns, on the other hand, are nouns are specific. They name specific people, places, things, ideas, and animals. They are always capitalized.
