2 A. Meaning of PMT PMT is based on national household surveys. Given that household income in developing countries is often difficult and expensive to measure accurately, the methodology relies on household assets and other indicators or proxies to estimate household welfare.

3 PMT method is based on National Household surveys include: Demographic characteristics Human capital characteristics Physical housing characteristics Durable goods characteristic

4 Why PMT is the appropriate for poverty targeting? It is a scientific method to predict poverty targeting Indicator are statistically significant Easily verifiable Non-Manipulated and Emphasis population of poorer geographical location.

5 Objective of the scheme are: Establish a pro-poor targeting method for scholarship distribution, and Ensure that students from disadvantaged groups had an opportunity to obtain higher education through financial assistance provided by the project.

6 PMT scoring system Consumption data is analyzed to estimate total household consumption. Household consumption is adjusted for the number of people in the household. A regression model of the correlates of poverty is estimated. The PMT regression then provides the PMT scoring system with the estimated coefficients serving as the weights.

7 Strength and weakness Suffering from various weaknesses such as scarcity of necessary technical manpower, Budget constraint for effective field verification, Inconsistent implementation procedure, and low level of stakeholder’s awareness.

8 Opportunities and Threat More scientific model to select the poorer from the poor and provide financial assistance To make access of female, poor and deprived communities on education it has introduced various scholarship programs through its own and outside sources. The poverty and disadvantaged population are highly concentrated in rural and remote areas where access on communication is also very limited.
