ROBBINS PARK DESIGN LAYOUT Created By: Dom Paone, Phillip Santerian & Jake Samson

Various Green Elements  For our learning lab at Robbins Park to be as “green” as possible, there are certain elements that will be inserted.

Green Element #1-Sustainable Flooring  Include cork, bamboo or even recycled carpeting.  Better look  Can create a healthier atmosphere Bamboo Flooring

Green Element #1-Sustainable Flooring  Costs $4.00-$7.00 per square inch  Simple to use and durable to many different environments  Could be cleaned up easier than carpet

Green Element #2-Solar Panels  Used to convert sunlight into electricity.  Large output of energy  Photons of light “excite” the electrons to become a true energy source and act as carriers for a current.  Not a replacement, but a new idea to power your home.

Green Element #2-Solar Panels Solar Panel  Electric Power

Green Element #2-Solar Panels  Might be an expensive down payment, but you will notice savings  Perfect for learning lab  Technologically advanced and looks good

Green Element #3-Dual Flush

 Always a need  Toilet used to reduce water use  Small button for one, big button for two  Normal toilet uses too much water for certain waste  Relatively cheap and will certainly show

Green Element #4-Graywater Collection  Meant to use all of water waste not treated  Used from sewer in order to irrigate gardens  Way to not let water go to waste

Green Element #4-Graywater Collection  Takes the place of the treated water to irrigate  Not the cheapest idea at the beginning  Large amount of space in the area  Certainly will pay itself in long run

Green Element #4-Graywater Collection

Green Element #5-LED, CFL & Natural  Better energy output compared to incandescent  85-90% of energy in incandescent is lost as heat  CFL, LED may be more expensive, but will help your electric bill

Green Element #5-LED, CFL & Natural  Natural: Why not?  As days get longer, more natural light can be used  Large windows= More money saved

HOW WILL WE POWER THIS?

Tidal Power Plant

Pros… Advantages Once built Tidal Power is free Does not need fuel It produces reliable electricity Cheap to maintain Tides are predictable No greenhouse gasses

And Cons  Disadvantages  It is Expensive to build  Takes up a wide area  The environment is changed downstream and upstream  Only provides power around 10 hours a day when the tide moves in and out

What Do You Think? Thanks for watching our presentation. We hope this design we have will be the future of the learning lab at Robbins Park.
