The movie Shrek is filled with satire because it portrays the princess as a strong character, which is the complete opposite of any other fairytale princess. In most fairy tales, the princess is innocent and somewhat weak and that's why their knight in shining armor comes to the rescue. "Shrek" portrays that much differently. Instead of the knight in shining armor coming to the rescue, and ogre rescues the princess and she doesn't see to mind at all.
