“What God has Cleansed” Section 11 Acts 9:32 - 11:18

Exodus 19:4-6 “Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.”

Exodus 12:48-50 “And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.”

The Great Commision Matt. 28:19 Matt. 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” Mark 16:16 “ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” “ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Lesson for Us Cornelius’ baptism shows us that:  Being a devout man, fearing God and giving alms is not enough.  He needed further instruction (the gospel)  With proper understanding, he then needs to be baptized.  He needed to know and then do God’s will.  Is our position any different than Cornelius?
