1. ONE WITH NATURE PHOTO 1 FINAL PROJECT

2. Objective You will turn in a portfolio of 3 photographs that use your full set of skills as a photographer & digital manipulator. You must create 3 wholly original collaged photographs that explore the relationship between humans and nature.

3. Essential Questions What is our current relationship to nature? Is this universal? How is this relationship specific to our culture? How has our relationship to nature changed over time? What is your personal relationship to nature? How do we interact with nature as a society? As individuals? Do these habits/actions need to change? Can you remember a time when you had a significant experience with nature?

4. Photo #1 100% Photoshopped This image must be completely constructed in Photoshop with photos you take YOURSELF

5. Photo #2 100% Physically Altered This image can only have the most absolutely minute work completed in Photoshop (crop, adjust brightness/contrast). You must physically integrate natural elements into your photo. You can: – Cut away from the photo – Add-on – Weave-in – Embroider – collage

6. Photo #3 50% Photoshopped / 50% Physically Altered This image must be partly constructed in Photoshop, and partly by your hand.

7. Additional Requirements Each of the 3 photos MUST include at least one human figure and one natural element (flora, fauna, etc.), both of which you must photograph YOURSELF. Think about using: – Trees – Leaves – Flowers – Grass – stones, – Feathers – Bones – Fur – animals – Sticks – water

8. Artist Statement 1 page, double-spaced, 12-point font Address the essential questions Explain your artistic choices Alternative formats, such as short story or poem, are also acceptable.

35. DUE DATES ALL THREE PHOTOS & YOUR STATEMENT ARE DUE (PRINTED and compiled in a folder) BY MONDAY JUNE 1. I recommend that as you finish pieces, you print them immediately, instead of waiting until the very last day.
