This is what can happen to your car. By Kieran Lloyd 8EHC

The speed limit Lots of people exceed the limit every day, they think that the limit is pointless and decide to set there own safe limit which in fact is extremely dangerous as they could crash at any time. We have speed limits for a reason use them.

The usefulness of the speed limit Speed limits form a useful part of road safety, but in recent years speed limits have been promoted way past their level of use. Speed limits are properly a useful guide, and an easy weapon to use against those exceeding safe thresholds. But they have been erroneously promoted to a much higher status. It is very odd to suggest that 31mph is dangerous and 29mph is safe. It's even more odd to suggest that 31mph is dangerous today on a road where 60mph was allowed yesterday.

Speed cameras A traffic enforcement camera is a system, including a camera and a vehicle-monitoring device, used to detect and identify vehicles disobeying a speed limit or some other road legal requirement. Speed cameras can be useful but have been known to cause crashes as the driver has seen them to late and decreased there to late.

“The slower you go the safer you are.” This motto is being used a lot, but actually going slower causes more danger than going faster. This is because you are causing traffic to back up which means anyone doing the right speed limit is in even more danger than someone going slow.

How to use speeding laws to make the roads safer The conditions at the time of the offence make a far larger contribution to the degree of danger than the number on the sign. A motorway in fog and busy traffic might be extremely dangerous to drive at 69 mph, while the same motorway a few hours later when the fog and the traffic have both cleared might be perfectly safe at 100 mph. The Police are frequently very aware of dangerous uses of speed, but current enforcement policies make no distinction whatsoever. Doubtless there are some traffic officers who do apply their intelligence and discretion, but this has become the exception rather than the rule.

Why speeding can be wrong or right Speeding in the eyes of young drivers is fun and cool, but actually in the eyes of the law it is highly dangerous and unsafe.
