1 dvert here. Evaluation of Advertising 1. Annotate your advertisement, to show how it follows the conventions of advertising; include logo, brand identity and visual connotations The football shows that the shoes are for football. The way I have positioned them show the viewer all of the boot. It also shows the Nike logo to the viewer so that they know the brand of the shoe. This follows the conventions of an advert because the image is large and central. Also, the tagline is short and punchy and makes the reader want to buy it. Also the tagline is to do with sport to make the reader think that if they buy these shoes they will run more and better. The way that the boots are positioned in the Adidas advert shows all of the shoe and the logo. I have used this convention in my advert because it makes the reader want to buy them. I also chose to use white for the tagline to make it stand out from the page. I chose to make my advert modern by using social media to advertise the shoes.

2 Question 1: How high is the standard of the production? Does the advert have a high quality to it? Does it accurately look like an advertisement? How have you manipulated your images? I think that the large central image looks professional because it is the same as some of the real media advertisement posters. I think the cutting out of the image is good because I have managed to crop out the background to make it look professional. The logo is the right size and in the bottom corner of the page which is conventional. I have resized it and cropped it from another image. I think the background could be improved because it doesn’t look that professional. If I could do this again I would use an image that has grass in the background to show that these are boots made for playing football. Question 2: How does the advert adhere to the codes and conventions of advertising? Have the group included all key elements such as a logo, slogan, brand identity, product images or production information? I chose to put the slogan in the middle of the page so that it stands out and so you can see it clearly. I chose to use the colour white behind the black slogan because it stands out clearly and colour matches the black and white football. The social media logo and hashtag are a convention of the media advertising so that you can follow more information about the product. The logo I have chosen is also conventional because it displays the brand and I chose it to be orange because it has connotations of being strong and dangerous and it appeals to teenagers. One thing I could add to this is the product information including the price and where these boots are sold. Question 3: What is your brand identity when looking at your advertisement? What connotations does your poster convey? My brand identity is Nike which is aimed at teenage boys. This is because I chose the blue coloured shoes because it’s a masculine colour. The position of the football boots is so that you can see the brand and the design features of the whole shoe. I have also cut out the image so that the studs are clearly visible so that you can tell they are going to be good boots. The connotations of the slogan are that if you wear these boots you will be able to run for longer because they are designed to be comfortable and the word ‘calm’ suggests that you will be relaxed when you wear these boots.
