2 2 What Is IFIE? The International Forum for Investor Education (IFIE) is a unique, diverse alliance chartered in 2005 that brings together public and private sector providers of financial education, financial capability and investor education programmes, dedicated to establishing the highest standards and fostering best practices to serve the needs of individual investors and the most efficient, effective delivery of financial and investor education around the globe. IFIE membership includes regulators; self regulatory organizations; non profit service providers; community-based organisations; associations of financial organizations; foundations.

3 3 What Is IFIE? IFIE builds networks, platforms and programming for the exchange of information and ideas, strategies and plans including practical implementation and problem- solving approaches, relevant to providers from different jurisdictions, across emerging to advanced market economies –Annual Global State of Investor Education Benchmarking Survey –Website Clearinghouse of educational resources IFIE partners with multilateral organisations, such as the IFIE-IOSCO Global Investor Education Conference, held every 12-18 months.

4 4 IFIE Global-Regional Chapters IFIE supports organisation of global – regional Chapters of IFIE member organisations that share IFIE principles and are interested in working together on common priorities to strengthen financial and investor education in a global region. –Template for organisation, leadership and member structures; up to 2 years initial organising period The Asian Forum for Investor Education (AFIE) Chapter formed in 2009—initial regional focus on: –Developing strong financial and investor educational programmes essential to capital market development; –Organizing educational initiatives in emerging markets; and to serve demographics of new investors

5 5 IFIE Global-Regional Chapters MENA-IFIE (Middle East-North Africa Chapter) formed in 2010—initial regional focus on: –Developing strong financial and investor education programmes and materials in 16 countries with Arabic as common language; –Developing programmes and materials suitable for individuals new to market participation; –Creating networks and professional and programme development support across jurisdictions in changing political environments. IFIE in the early stages of exploring global-regional Chapters in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, 2011-12
