2 Metaphor- comparing two thing with out using like or as. Examples- Life is a rollercoaster, The snow is a white blanket, He is a night owl Simile- comparing two things using like or as. Examples- as big as an elephant, as mad as a hatter, my dog was like a cat Any other examples???

4 What are emotions??? a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. Examples of Emotions Anticipation Happy Sad Mad How do emotions affect you in day to day life?

5 Discuss in groups how emotions affects your day to day lives Pick an emotions out of the hat Think about what the emotion means and write a short poem (no more than 25 words) about that emotion Break into groups and do a peer revision of your poems Read poems out loud (if you want to) and we will try to guess what emotion you had Overall review

6 Go to the blog and discuss what you learned in class. Explain if you liked it, did not like it, if you were confused, etc. Also post any general questions or things you did not understand about the assignment. Post your original poem and make revisions based off of what your partner said
